Alison Goldie is a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in the Eden Valley, Cumbria. She works with empathy and compassion to guide you towards your therapeutic goals.
I studied at Northern Guild and trained in Transactional Analysis. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am currently working towards a specialism as a Psychosexual Counsellor and am able to work with a range of sexual dysfunction issues. These may present as issues such as erectile dysfunction, low desire, orgasm problems, pain with penetration, historical sexual trauma and more. A psychosexual approach and Transactional Analysis really compliment each other to enable you to truly understand yourself on a deep level.
Transactional Analysis is a modality of therapy which examines a person’s relationships and interactions with the purpose of establishing and reinforcing the idea that each individual is valuable and has the capacity for positive change and personal growth. I use TA as my core modality, along with CBT, Person Centred Counselling and other approaches, as an Integrative and Pluralistic Counsellor.
I work with adults aged 18 and over, offering both short and long term work to achieve your therapeutic goals, from my home in the Eden Valley, Cumbria.
I offer sessions in person, by telephone or online, with appointments offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays all day, and Friday mornings.
‘I believe that the goal of therapy is to become the best autonomous version of yourself that you can be, in whatever format that may take for you, to live your life as fully as possible.’ Alison Goldie
Why Counselling?
There can be a stigma associated with reaching out for mental health support. Absolutely no one should suffer alone through life’s difficulties.
Whether you are struggling with self esteem, sexuality issues, a recent or historical trauma, relationship issues, problems at work, bereavement, domestic abuse or many other problems, counselling could be hugely beneficial.
Having a trusted, confidential person to talk to can enable you to make sense of yourself and the world around you, and achieve the changes and understanding you are seeking. Counselling can be a challenging path, requiring honesty and openness, but leading to life changing results.
Am I the right Counsellor for you?
I work in a relaxed and friendly environment, building a trusting and healing relationship between myself and you as my client.
Finding the right counsellor for you is vital to achieve your therapeutic goals. For this reason I offer the first session at a a reduced rate, in order for us to meet and get a feel for whether we are best suited to work together.
Session Details and Pricing

I aim to enable you to understand who YOU are as an individual, away from childhood injunctions and pressure to fit into a mould made for you by others. You can find your own glorious YOU.
